If you're looking for a robot vacuum that can also mop, this is the model to go for. It is smaller than other options, making it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220 degree lidar, which when combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best robot vacuum and mop navigation and object avoidance I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It's powered by a 4600mAh battery that can last up to 170 minutes when mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can be more efficient when using turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery part way through a clean.

It's extremely fast and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in one go. The suction motor's 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, droppings and pet hair. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help draw out debris from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop's rotating motor spins at a high velocity and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a little more than other robots. This is useful in tight corners or on baseboards. Those same front arms can also be used to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It's simple to set up and works well, but it's something you'll need to be aware of in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. However, it has distinct features that make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni is most well-known for its massive dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dust bin and a 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also has a variety of control buttons that allow you to start a cleaning task or recall the robot Vacuums that Mop or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to detect obstacles and furniture in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognising objects.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like an electrical cord dangling across a rug, that it gets stuck and ceases to function until you remove it manually. This was a rare occurrence, but frustrating nonetheless, because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert in its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between use which could lead to mildew or mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a significant contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
